State Growth's Tasmanian Integrated Freight Strategy & Time Sensitive Freight Report points out, air freight is increasing at a significant rate, where the world simply wants Tasmania’s fresh products and HIBP can facilitate this growth and help assist farmers and business by providing areas for them to expand and develop into near the airport. In 2006 and 2012 export freight jumped from 5,000 tonnes to 11,000 tonnes (as provided by State growth in their Tasmanian Integrated Freight Strategy). And further to this Strategy, State Growth put out an "Understanding Tasmanians Markets - TIME SENSITIVE FREIGHT" document in 2017 reporting on the significant increase in export freight. With the increase we need to take the care necessary to assist our producers by making allowance for the growth before it Gridlocks. The previous state government infrastructure Minister said; "Across Australia, the level of demand for new and improved infrastructure and services is challenging available funding “.  Robust and transparent infrastructure planning frameworks are critical. The Tasmanian Integrated Freight Strategy provides this framework in the important area of freight." The HIBP will help with this infrastructure. HIBP will be supporting Tasmania’s farmers, businesses, aquaculture farmers who are doing it tough and we want to kickstart jobs to those who may have lost theirs during this 1 in 100 year Covid event. The HIBP will employ just in construction over 3,300 jobs, generate over $1billion dollars in economic activity and once complete will provide over 4000 full time jobs.  Clarence City Council themselves had formally identified since 2003 this land near the Hobart International Airport as strategically vital for southern Tasmania's light industrial economy,  and rezoned it to light industrial in 2015. This site is critical as a logistics platform for the Gateway to Antarctica’s International Participation due to International entities unable to occupy Federally owned land such as the International Airport next door, and will, if properly catered for, increase demand on tourist facilities .
